EAP Services

Services for Employers & Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)

Employees who are experiencing financial trouble are less productive at work. They are more stressed and distracted and spend time at work dealing with their creditors.

This can impact your company in many ways, including how your employees treat each other and your customers, as well as your bottom line.

However, when employees learn effective money management skills, they spend time and energy focusing on their work.

Help for Employers

Many employers aren't sure how to recognize the signs and symptoms of financial distress among their employees. We would be happy to conduct a “Financial First Aid for Managers & HR” workshop to help you learn what the signs and symptoms are, and to equip you with tools and resources to help your employees effectively.

We are also able to provide friendly, interactive lunch and learn workshops and educational webinars for your employees. These can be an interesting addition to your health and safety or employee development program.

Employee Assistance Programs

Oftentimes when an employee is experiencing difficulty in a personal relationship, money problems are part of the issue. When the employee contacts their EAP for help with their money troubles, they are referred to a Financial Planner or Bankruptcy Trustee to help them sort out their finances. Each of these services has their rightful place, however neither of these service providers are typically experts in credit and day-to-day family finances. The Credit Counselling Society’s expertise is helping people with their day-to-day money management and if they are in debt, finding alternatives to bankruptcy.

If you have an employee who is utilizing your company's EAP services and one of the issues arising is money, the Credit Counselling Society can provide three services for that employee:

  1. Referral to the Credit Counselling Society for regular credit counselling which includes a full financial assessment and an overview of a client's options for dealing with their debts. This service is free and clients can book their own appointment calling 1-888-527-8999.
  2. An EAP Counsellor is able to refer their client for credit counselling. We'll work with you to develop a joint plan of action for your client and complete any required EAP paperwork that may be necessary. Contact our Director of Education for more details about this program.
  3. Workshops and webinars: an EAP Counsellor can refer their client to a budgeting workshop or webinar. This service is free and clients can register by calling 1-888-527-8999.

Feel free to contact our Director of Education for more information.
